I've been riding since I was 8 and had ponies as a young teenager - tearing around the moors in Lancashire and competing in local gymkhanas.
After about a 15y gap, I missed being around horses and if they are in your blood, they never leave you. In 2012 I went to Trent Park and Lee Valley for lessons and hacking, and took annual trips back home for Chatsworth Horse Trials.
As the feelings came flooding back, horses wove their way back into my life. In 2016, I went to LV more regularly and decided to commit fully to my childhood passion. I fell in love with Lou, a dapple grey ex racer, and had weekly private lessons on him for 18 months. Then that was it, fully hooked.
I’m now training as an Equine Facilitated Psychotherapist, studying for my BHS Stage 3 and Teaching exams, and learning Natural Horsemanship.
In February I came across Inca, a black thoroughbred ex race horse, who I fell for immediately and took a leap of faith. There was an instant connection and we are having a brilliant time getting to know each other at her new home in Barnet.
We’ll be mostly doing dressage, competitions later this year, a bit of jumping for fun and practicing natural horsemanship, but more importantly she’s going to make an amazing therapy horse.
